Description
Piroska Kner was the youngest sister of Izidor Kner, the founder of the Kner Printing House in Gyoma. She was born in Gyoma in 1877 and lived as a housewife in Rákosliget for most of her life. In 1915, in keeping with the fashion of the age, he also wrote a cookbook, but in vain he hoped to appear at the family publisher, somehow his book was always ranked lower. The First World War and the ensuing crisis period finally swept it away, because by then the time for frugal cookbooks had come. The manuscript of Piroska Kner was placed in the attic of the house in Rákosliget together with many other things, while decades later the new owner of the house came across it. In the joint venture of the Győr Border Győr City Library and Magvető, a cookbook carefully compiled at the time is now finally available, which can still be used perfectly today, from soups to desserts and canning. To "deliver justice" to Pirka Kner, Lajos Parti quotes the most important moments of his life in an accompanying book based on family correspondence and other documents. The "memorial sentences" give a magical insight into the struggling fate of a woman figure and her family, a printing and art dynasty with a long history, who stand out from the gloom of obscurity. The two books were designed by József Pintér from Kner Antikva, using the decorative elements of Lajos Kozma, and are printed by Gyoma Kner Nyomda, as they could have been at the time.
